Proletarian Power and the State: An Overview

The Proletariat If you’re reading this, chances are you’re a proletarian. Put simply, what that means is that in order to live, to survive even, you must sell your own labor to someone else in return for a wage, typically paid by the hour. Proletarians own no means of production, that is, they own nothing that could be used to produce wealth other than their own labor . Everything else that is needed to produce things - the natural resources of the Earth, industrial equipment, etc - are owned by someone else, that is, the capitalists. Now, it is not accurate to say that most proletarians own no means of production whatsoever; many people have ovens and stoves in their house which can be used to make food, cameras which can take photographs and film videos, things of that nature - but these small machines usually are used to produce things that are for the immediate use and consumption of the proletarian who owns them, and not for exchange, because the reality is, the average prolet

Further Reflections on Christianity

It has been said by Christ that a house divided against itself cannot stand, and that it must fall. He was, of course, in this context, speaking of Satan. “Every kingdom divided against itself is headed for destruction, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?” (Mathew, 12:25-27). This verse is, of course, extremely important. But what comes next is even more important; “anyone who is not with me is against me, and anyone who does not gather with me scatters… people will be forgiven every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come.” (12:30-32). But what, exactly, is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the event that shatters the natural order of things, the even

What The Democratic Socialists Get Wrong

The term “democratic socialist” is thrown around very loosely these days, so for our simple purposes, we shall define it as those who claim that the best or most feasible path to socialism is that of democratic reform, and not revolutionary action which seeks to overthrow bourgeois society. The democratic socialists make many claims as to why their methods are preferable to revolution, examples being that “revolution simply isn’t feasible,” or that “revolution is unnecessarily violent.” These claims, while false, are not what we are here to discuss. What we are here to discuss is the methods of democratic socialism, i.e. the methods that democratic socialists believe will lead to socialism, and to prove that not only are they anti-marxist and counter-revolutionary, as is obvious to any thinking socialist, but that also, they do nothing but reinforce capitalism, and that they are absolutely impractical and inapplicable to any truly socialist program. We must first ask the obvious, b

Revolutionary Faith

Through faith in Christ Jesus are the mind and body born anew, cleansed of the forms that have been imposed upon it by the nefarious forces of this world. Through love among comrades is the Holy Spirit realized, here and now as a material force that compels us towards each other and our purpose. Through recognition of becoming is being realized, and through the letting go of being is becoming realized, the true nature of the world. Christ died! The Holy Spirit lives! May Her love never die! * For a revolutionary to be born, he must first die. He must give up everything, all of it. He is no longer a son, a father, a brother, a husband. She is no longer a daughter, a mother, a sister, a wife. She has shed all her former attachments and become one with the revolution. Her brothers, sisters, mother and father, husband or wife, sons and daughters, cease to fill those wretched roles stained by the old world, and become comrades, friends, conduits of pure, universal

Schizo-Eroticism: A Militant Queer Manifesto

1 Who We Are The queer militant is the one who has liberated her body from the shackles of guilt, or the one who is in the process of doing so. She is the one who lives a life of liberated desire that is in a constant state of becoming, desire that never ceases to produce revolutionary machinations. For her, desire “has escaped the impasse of private fantasy” and has manifested in reality as an anti identitarian revolutionary struggle that she lives every waking hour of her life (Guattari, Chaosophy, 43).  The queer militant is the one who doesn’t bow to identity categories or pseudo scientific justifications for queerness; she does not look to science, or anything for that matter, to justify her existence and the existence of queerness; she simply exists. Her existence itself is justification enough. In my essay Queer Futures, I painted a portrait of queerness in general and universal queer revolt. I said what we aim to destroy, what we are against, what we negate. However, a ne

Post Election Thoughts #2

It is important that we recognize the reality of our position, and understand exactly how and why our movement died down. The first reason is obviously a lack of structure and organization, though powerful, were not at all organized; there were no radical organizations that made sure the protests would be protected from bourgeois corruption. Because there were no such radical organizations, there were no voices powerful enough to challenge the reformist ideas spread by liberal opportunists and infiltrators.  The second reason, which is related to the first, was in a sense also the reason that the protests were as successful as they were (even though they ended up failing). However, it also contributed significantly to the corruption of the movement by lies, slander, and pacification. I am speaking, of course, of the internet. Though the internet allowed people on the ground to circumvent the mainstream media by talking to people directly on sites like twitter, it also led to serious

Queer Futures

First published in Ortus Journal, Issue #1, Futures Queerness 1 Queerness is what lies outside the traditional hegemony of regulated love and desire. Queerness is what shatters the boundaries of what is seen as acceptable. Queerness is the rejection of the dogmatism of static identity. Queerness is the ultimate form of self conscious sexual expression - the rejection of gender, the realization of Anatman in the realm of sexuality. It is in this sense that it is nomadic, animal, untethered; in other words, it is free.     Free? Free from what? Free from purpose. Free? Free to do what? Free to love without expectation. “Chuang Tzu was walking through the heart of the mountains when he saw a huge verdant tree. A woodcutter stopped beside the tree, but did not cut it. When asked why he didn’t he said, ‘It’s no good.’ Chuang Tzu said, ‘because this tree is not considered useful, it follows all the years heaven has given it,” (The Book of Chuang Tzu, 167).     Queerness is a rejection of the
